Our ancestors were something like this:
I really hope that the guy on the left already had children. Otherwise, he has little chance of becoming our ancestor
As you understand, they did not have a special need to memorize large blocks of numbers, dates and names. But they were perfectly able to remember the path in an unfamiliar area, the appearance of edible and inedible berries and the place where you should beat the bear, for sure.
Therefore, visual memory in humans is best developed. The human brain has evolved in such a way as to remember. It doesn’t matter whether you are audial or synesthetic, your visual memory still works better.
Our task is to learn to use the possibilities of visual memory to our advantage.
Before you begin to study, you should determine the easiest way for yourself to perceive information. All people are divided into visuals, audials and kinesthetics. Most have better developed visual memory. But if you're better at learning information by ear, make audio recordings with cheat sheets. Read the dates, pausing, fixing on the recorder.
Visuals should start preparing visuals. Organize dates by including them in a table. Then prepare the stickers on which the date is indicated on one side and the event on the other. Cards and tables are best placed in prominent places, and also carry them with you, periodically looking at a break or on the way to school.
Try to depict a date that is hard to remember. In order to use the method, it is not necessary to be able to draw well. It’s better to depict what the date is associated with, then write down the numbers on the thumbnail.
The method involves dividing historical eras into periods of 30 years. Remembering an important date, we associate with it others that occurred before or after it. The principle is based on what period of time separates the main event from others. The method is conveniently used to quickly memorize events that have occurred in the life of historical figures.
Dates and events can be grouped. For example, remember those that happened with a difference of 1000 years. You can also compare the events of Russian and world history. For example, 1097 - the call of Pope Urban II and the Congress of Princes in Lyubec.
American comedies and popular blockbusters are far from the best way to prepare for the exam in history. But on the Internet you can find many historical and documentary films that will help to connect together the events of a certain era, and maybe become a motivation to replenish the store of knowledge on a specific topic.
Volumetric information, which is in no way interconnected, is very difficult to remember. To assimilate dates, you can use visual-motor memory. All dates must be recorded on a sheet of A4 format, regularly repeated and rewritten.
The most obvious criteria for classifying dates are by rulers or by historical periods. In the first case, events can be divided into blocks - economic, political, social and spiritual spheres. The second way is to write out dates that correspond to a specific time period: the reign of the Romanov dynasty, the time of the existence of the USSR or the events of the Great Patriotic War.
Battles and geographical discoveries are associated with a specific territory, so it is more convenient to memorize them using interactive maps. You do not have to compose them yourself. On the Internet you can find options with events that occurred in Russia or around the world.
The brain requires multiple repetitions to absorb information. It is advisable to start learning dates in advance. Frequent repetition activates long-term memory. But during memorization it is important to take breaks. Information must be repeated after half an hour, two hours, before bedtime, after one, two, four days, after a week and a half.
In history, the sequence of events is important. Chronological tables will help to remember it. In this case, all dates form a time line.
To understand which way of remembering will be most effective for you, you can only try various options in practice. You should not be limited to only one method. Significant results can be achieved by applying them in combination.
Ruseducenter teachers have effective techniques for memorizing various types of information, in practice, proven ways of organizing time and other useful skills. They teach them students in individual lessons and group lessons. Call our manager, sign up for courses or to a tutor, and very soon you will feel that the learning process has become easier and more fun, and knowledge - deeper!

Sometimes you need to remember a lot of numerical or abstract verbal information: formulas, codes, tables with dates. The difficulty is that you need to keep in mind not only the numbers and letters themselves, but also their sequence.
Let's say you need to remember the metric of Internet marketing CTR - this is clickability. We have three letters and their meaning. We translate into Russian and “clickability” is also reduced to the first letter. Get STRK. If you add vowels, then from this word you get "construction."
And here is a visual image that you can remember
Focus on remembering not words, but pictures. Imagine it in color and volume, so it is better remembered. Feel the situation. Hear the sounds of construction, imagine flying dust.
It is best to make the image absurd: let the gnomes build a gingerbread house. The brighter and crazier the better remembered.
And do not forget to periodically reproduce your image in your head. Repetition helps to transfer information from short-term memory to long-term.
It is also very important to repeat all this not several times during the day, but several days in a row. This is due to the fact that the transition from short-term to long-term memory occurs when we sleep.
To make it easier to remember the numbers, you can associate them with some significant events. I used to have the numbers 1794 on my bank card pincode. They themselves and their sequence were hard to remember.
I asked Google what happened this year. It turned out that Robespierre was executed. Not the most significant event for me, but the mere understanding that the thing was happening in the last decade of the 18th century helped to remember the first three numbers. I just memorized the rest.
Reconstruction of the head of Maximilian Robespierre. His face is hard to forget
Any “humanization” of dates, that is, their connection with a concrete story full of emotions, helps them to remember better.
The numbers can be remembered by associating with the numbers that you already know. 18 is the age of majority. Soft boiled eggs for 3 minutes. 630 - this is 6:30 - the time for which my alarm clock is set. 161 is the golden ratio. 19 - numbers with which all dates in the XX century began.
Even any simple association helps to remember numbers better. This is a feature of our brain - it’s easier for us to remember associations than numbers (again hello to ancient people). 115 - ha, I would like to live to such an age. 665 - it seems that little ones are missing. Well and further in the same vein.
The simplest and most famous mnemonic phrase is "Every hunter wants to know where the pheasant sits." The first letters of the words can restore the sequence of colors of the rainbow.
Mnemonic phrases are many. If you study something widely known, such as the names of all the bones in the human body, search the Internet. Most likely, someone already came up with a mnemonic phrase on this topic.
You can do creativity and try to come up with these phrases yourself.
Palace of Remembrance
This is a pretty crazy technique, but it works.
The memory palace helps to remember both the information itself and its sequence.
Imagine some familiar landscape or interior. It can be your apartment or the road that you walk every day. Imagine in detail, with all the details, with interior items and furniture.
Now we need to lay out on these very objects of interior the images that we came up with in the section on visual coding.
Let the small construction bulldozer lie on the sofa. Violet grows directly from the countertop. And the can opener will be stuck in the TV. Do not be shy that it all looks crazy. The crazier the better remembered.
Spend a minute on each look. Imagine how the upholstery of a sofa slips under the wheels of a bulldozer, and cracks from a knife diverge on the plastic of the TV. The more real the picture, the easier it is to remember.
Now, to remember the information, you just need to close your eyes and imagine our surreal interior. In order not to get confused, always mentally go around it only clockwise. It is worth remembering and carefully watching the TV, as your imagination will independently crack cracks and a can opener behind it.
The sequence is remembered because objects in the interior are in a certain, strictly fixed sequence.
Finally. About repetition
All the techniques described here make it possible to memorize abstract technical information. But they do not exempt from repetition.
The human brain has the ability to constantly erase the latest information. Therefore, I recommend on the first day to repeat all the images, associations and mnemonic phrases several times. And a few more times in the coming days. This will allow you to firmly fix the information in the long-term memory.
